State Govt. requests HC & District Courts to ensure speedy trial and disposal of cases involving crime against women & the POCSO Act

Additional Chief Secretary of the State of Uttar Pradesh has written a letter to the Registrar of Allahabad High Court requesting a speedy disposal of cases of crimes against women and crimes which are lodged under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.

The letter stated details of an assessment made from 1st January, 2020 to 30th September, 2020. According to the letter a total number of 1,835 cases were disposed off and out of that in 612 cases the accused persons got legal punishment. There are a total number of 151 cases where punishment has been provided under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.

The letter also stated that from October 17th, 2020 to October 25th, 2020 a campaign regarding women empowerment will be conducted, and there is only one motive in this and that is to strengthen the safety of women and children.

A letter has been sent to all District and Session Court judges requesting a speedy trail of crimes against women and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences.
