New Delhi :Moving on a petition filed by Nowshera Shaikh, a Hyderabad based philanthropist and businesswoman,on the abysmal conditions being faced by Indian workers in Kuwait since mid 2016 at the hand of Kuwaiti business enterprise, the SC bench headed by Justice Ranjan Gogoi , issued notice to Ministry of External Affairs and Home Ministry seeking their responses to what step do they contemplate to take to alleviate the suffering of fellow Indians.

It will be pertinent to inform the readers here that about 3,000 Indians from different states were working for a Kuwaiti company by the name of Kharafi National.Since June 2016 they have not been paid wages, their passports have been impounded and they have further been penalised for overstaying in Kuwait. Living in abject poverty ,the workers have petitioned the Ministry of External Affairs but their ordeal has still not ended. In September 2017, when External Affairs minister M J Akabar visited Kuwait,     the workers even staged a protest in front of him.
