New Andhra Pradesh HC will function at Amaravati from January 1

Pursuant to the SC order passed on 29th October, wherein it said it expects Centre to issue a notification for bifurcation of the existing Hyderabad High Court into two separate HCs, the Central government on Wednesday notified the constitution of a new High Court for Andhra Pradesh to function at Amaravati from Jan 1, 2019.

The notification states,

 “In pursuance of article 214 of the Constitution and the Order issued by the Supreme Court of India and in exercise of powers conferred under clause (a) of sub-section (1) of section 30, sub-section (1) of section 31 and sub-section (2) of section 31 of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, the President hereby constitutes a separate High Court for the State of Andhra Pradesh, namely, the High Court of Andhra Pradesh, from the 1st day of January, 2019 with the principal seat of such High Court at Amaravati in the State of Andhra Pradesh and the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad shall become the High Court for  the State of Telangana.”

With the constitution of High Court of Andhra Pradesh at Amaravati, the following judges of the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad for the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh shall become the Judges of the new AP High Court:

  1. Justice Ramesh Ranganathan (currently serving as Chief Justice of High Court of Uttarakhand)
  2. Justice Chagari Praveen Kumar
  3. Justice Sarasa Venkatanarayana Bhatti
  4. Justice Akula Venkata Sesha Sai
  5. Justice Dama Seshadri Naidu (presently working as Judge, High Court of Kerala)
  6. Justice Mandhata SeetharamaMurti
  7. Justice Upmaka Durga Prasada Rao
  8. Justice Talluri Sunil Chowdary
  9. Justice Mallavolu Satyanarayana Murthy
  10. Justice Gudiseva Shyam Prasad
  11. Justice Kumari Javalakar Uma Devi
  12. Justice Nakka Balayogi
  13. Justice Smt. Telaprolu Rajani
  14. Justice Durvasula Venkata Subramanya Suryanarayana Somayajulu
  15. Justice Smt. KongaraVijaya Lakshmi; and
  16. Justice Manthoj Ganga Rao

Further, the following shall cease to be the judges of the common High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad and shall become judges of the High Court for the State of Telangana effective from January 1, 2019:

  1. Justice Puligoru Venkata Sanjay Kumar
  2. Justice Mamidanna Satya Ratna Sri RamachandraRao 2
  3. Justice Adavalli Rajasheker Reddy
  4. Justice Ponugoti Naveen Rao
  5. Justice Challa Kodandaram Chowdary
  6. Justice Bulusu Siva Sankara Rao
  7. Justice Dr. Shameem Akther
  8. Justice Potlapalli Keshava Rao
  9. Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavili
  10. Justice Todupunuri Amarnath Goud Justice Todupunuri Amarnath Goud
