Mumbai, the economy centric city of India, is getting a boost in business from 27 January, 2020. The night life of Mumbai is getting extended to longer hours as the restaurants, malls, multiplexes will stay open round the clock starting day after tomorrow. However, alcohol will only be served till 1:30 am as per Government orders. The Government has reportedly said that this initiative will lead to job creation in the city.

Further, the Tourism and Environment Minister of Mumbai, Aaditya Thackeray said, “if we want to convert Mumbai into an International city then we have to provide certain extra facilities.” The amount of tourists Mumbai receives yearly can provide us with huge revenue and for that some extra efforts are required.

The policy will be implemented keeping in mind the fact that residential areas should not be affected adversely. Noise pollution guidelines along with environmental norms will be followed while moving forward as per Government directions.

In the initial phase of the project, following areas will be covered after the clearance from Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) - Bandra Kurla Complex, Nariman Point and mill compounds.

Scathing remarks were received from Bhartiya Janata Party's (BJP), former chief Ashish Shelar who said that the history of Mumbai's night life has been painted with blood, citing the pub fire which killed 14 people. He further added that Shivsena wants people to drink all night which is in grave violation of Indian values and culture.
