Student activist, Safoora Zargar who is accused of the Delhi riots has been allowed to visit her hometown in Kashmir by Delhi Court.

Zargar will be in her hometown in Kashmir for one month for performing one of the ceremonies ‘Aqiqah’ on the occasion of the festival of Eid-ul-Milad.

Additional Sessions Judge Amitabh Rawat granted Zargar's plea on the condition that she mark the pin on Google Maps for IO verification.

While ordering Zargar to comply diligently with all bail conditions set out by the Delhi High Court, the Court thus ordered:

“The applicant shall also furnish the itinerary of her visit to the investigating officer through official email. The applicant will ‘drop-a-pin’ on Google maps so that the Investigating Officer can verify the applicant’s presence and location. The mobile numbers of the Investigating Officer are already known the applicant and are also mentioned in the present application.”

The Delhi High Court granted bail to Zargar on humanitarian grounds on June 23, 2020, on the condition that if she wants to leave the jurisdiction of Delhi, she needs to obtain permission from the concerned court.

Therefore, an application was submitted to the Delhi court stating that since she and her husband's hometown are in Kishtwar, she should be allowed to go to Kashmir because the ceremony will take place there.
