Central Govt notifies transfer of three High Court judges

The Centre has notified the transfer of Justices Alok Aradhe, Vineet Kothari and Rajesh Bindal to High Courts of Karnataka, Madras and J&K respectively.

Pursuant to SC Collegium resolution, Justice Alok Aradhe of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court has been transferred to the Karnataka High Court at his request.

Further, Justice Vineet Kothari currently serving at the Karnataka High Court has been transferred to the Madras High Court and will likely take charge of his office on or before November 24. Justice Kothari was initially recommended for transfer to the High Court of Allahabad. However, acceding to his request, the Collegium reconsidered the proposal and thereafter recommended his transfer to the High Court of Madras.

Justice Rajesh Bindal, a senior judge at the Punjab and Haryana HC, has been transferred to the Jammu and Kashmir High Court. Justice Bindal is also expected to assume his office by November 24. The Collegium had initially proposed for Justice Bindal to be transferred to the Madras High Court. However, upon Justice Bindal’s request to be transferred to any nearby High Court in north India, the Collegium recommended to transfer him to his parent High Court of Jammu and Kashmir.
