What men should know about the Prevention of sexual harassment of women at workplace Act, 2013?

  • What is the Webinar about?

  • A lot has been said about the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013 being gender biased and not looking at the impact it has on men. Even in the practical scenario, we see men completely uninterested in understanding what this law is about and what it provides for. At the end of the day, this promotes misunderstanding and also a lack of preparation with respect to handling accusations of sexual harassment against them.

  • This webinar is specifically designed for men to:

  • 1. Understand what this law says, requires and demands out of a workplace;
  • 2. Know the procedures and timelines that the Committees and other relevant bodies are required to follow;
  • 3. Know the rights awarded equally to men and women under this law which cannot be violated;
  • 4. Have a better appreciation of a law that may be for one gender but has a gender neutral application.

  • Specific topics that will be undertaken during the course of 1.5 hours of the webinar will be as below:

  • -         What is the need and purpose of the Act in workplaces of today?
  • -         Who are the direct and indirect beneficiaries of this Act?
  • -         What is Internal Complaints Committee ICC) and Local Complaints Committee (LCC)? When do they become relevant for you as a man?
  • -         What are the complaining and redressing procedures introduced under this Act?
  • -         Who can raise a complain under this Act?
  • -         What are the different stages of complaint handling of ICC? How are they relevant to you as a man?
  • -         How does the Act function with respect to timelines and procedures?
  • -         What are the strict code or mandated guidelines that prevent women from misusing this Act?
  • -         What are the guiding principles for ICC and LCC to ensure prevention of misuse of this Act by women or companies?
  • -         A quick checklist of actions if a complaint is filed against you in ICC or LCC
  • -         Who are the appellate authorities according to this Act?
  • i.   During an investigation

  • ii.  Post investigation
